Three NSU players were named to the Wisconsin Fire All-Tournament Team from the Mayor's Cup International Showcase Feb. 14-16 in Las Vegas.

Sam Kornetzke (U17 boys), Drew Winkoski (U17 boys) and Courtney Hoppe (U14 girls) were honored from among the nine Wisconsin Fire teams created for the major invitational tournament. Kornetzke and Winkoski reached the tournament final with the U17 boys, losing on penalty kicks. Hoppe's team made it to the quarterfinals.

Launched in August 2013 in partnership with the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA), the  Wisconsin Fire program now has over 200 elite players from Appleton SC, Bavarians SC, Brookfield SC, Croatians Eagles SC, Madison 56ers, Milwaukee Kickers SC, North Shore United, Racine United SC, SC Waukesha and  Wisconsin Rush. Wisconsin Fire is part of the Chicago Fire's emerging talent program.
