North Shore United’s newest staff coach has coached European professional teams in the country’s top flight and youth teams in international play.

Bob Jeffrey has visited Wisconsin for the last four summers, part of the staff for the Swansea Summer Camps at NSU. Now, Jeffrey has obtained a work visa that allows him to join the NSU staff beginning in the fall.

“This is a big boost to our already outstanding coaching staff,” said NSU Director of Coaching Joe Hammes. “Bob knows our club and brings an impressive depth of European and international experience with him.”

Jeffrey, who will train goalkeepers and coach three teams for NSU, holds a UEFA “A” coaching license and an English FA “A” goalkeeping coaching license. For 11 years Jeffrey has been Head of Youth Development at Llanelli Town AFC in Wales. There, he has developed players for the Wales National Team, as well as various youth national teams. Jeffrey also was the first-team coach for Llanelli Town in 2003-04 and helped the club obtain and keep Wales Premier League status. He also spent four years at the Swansea City Centre of Excellence as goalkeeping coach, from 2001-05.

For the Welsh FA, Jeffrey has coached goalkeepers at various levels, all the way to the men’s national team. He also managed the Welsh U18 national team.

Jeffrey joins a staff that includes Hammes, a former professional outdoor and indoor player and U.S. national futsal team member; Shannon Smyth, who played professionally in Norway and earned 37 caps for Republic of Ireland; and Sinisa Angelovski, who was Wisconsin Youth Coach of the Year in 2008.
