Joe Hammes

Director of Coaching - Joe Hammes

Joe grew up in Cedarburg and attended Marquette University High School where he was named two time all state and NSCAA All-American team his senior year.  Joe went on to be a 4 year starter for the nationally ranked St. Louis University Billikens.  

Following a stellar college career, Joe was drafted by the Milwaukee Wave.  As Wave team captain, Joe scored the overtime game winning goal to secure the Wave’s 5th Championship in 2012.  After winning 3 championships with the Wave, Joe retired in October 2013 after 10 successful years.  

Joe was also a member of the United States National Futsal team where he was captain in the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Brazil.  He also participated in the 2007 Pan-American Games in Brazil.   Joe won one state championship as a member of the Cedarburg Soccer Club and has coached teams to six others. 

In 2018 Joe was inducted into the Marquette University High School Athletic Hall of Fame.  He also joined the Wisconsin Women’s Soccer Advisory Council (WWSAC). 

Joe holds a USSF National “B” License and a NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma. He resides in Mequon with his wife Katie and you can find them at the fields supporting twin girls Lindsey and Madeline, and youngest daughter, Sophia.
