Craig joined us in August 2022 as Technical Director and Director of Coach Education, having previously managed the professional Women’s team, Lewes FC in the English F.A. Women’s Championship. Craig has played and coached in over 30 countries worldwide.
Craig has over 40 years of experience as a Coach and has undertaken Elite Coach Educator roles in Europe and Africa. As a player, Craig competed as a semi-pro in the Football Combination League for Swansea City and represented Wales at semi-pro level. Having completed his first coaching qualification aged 16, Craig commenced an extensive coaching career with the FAW when he was appointed as a District Coach at just 20 years of age.
He then enjoyed a highly successful 25-year career in the Royal Air Force as a Physical Training Instructor and Physical Education Officer and specialized in Medical Rehabilitation and Operational Training. While in the military, he played for and coached the RAF and British Forces national teams, and those in Cyprus, before voluntarily retiring in 2011 as a senior officer in the rank of Squadron Leader. Craig was also an Executive Board Member for the Royal Air Force Football Association as Director of Coaching and is still involved as a committee member of the RAF FA Veterans.
In addition, Craig worked extensively with Swansea City AFC on a part-time basis in various specialist roles at First Team, Reserve and Academy levels. He has also coached National Youth squads for Wales and Morocco.
As a university professor, Craig designed, delivered and led on the University of South Wales BSc and MSc Football Coaching and Performance degree courses for 6 years.
Craig is married to Kathryn and they have 3 sons, James, Billy and Daniel, who all play ‘The Beautiful Game’!
