NSU Sends U18 and U14 Boys to State Cup Semifinals

Over the Memorial Day weekend, North Shore United fielded a team in every State Cup age division U13-19 in Appleton, Wisconsin at the Scheels USA Youth Soccer Complex. The spring championships host U13-19 boys divisions and U13-14 girls divisions. The girls U15-19 high school divisions were hosted last fall, which NSU boasts a U15 Finalist, U16 Semifinalist, U17 State Champion and U18 State Champion.

Day one brought much success with the club tallying 5 wins, two draws and just two losses in the opening round. In the second round of match ups, NSU ended the day with a record of 6-2, leaving six of the nine teams in contention to advance to the semifinals. 

Day 3 Results-

In a competitive match, the U19 Boys dropped a tough result to 0-1 to Bavarians SC. 

The U18 boys secured their place in the semifinals, winning 1-0 over ACE with a goal by Brodie Mutschler.

Though unable to advance, the U17 boys finished their weekend with a convincing 3-1 win over the Madison 56ers with goals by William Jens, Will Aversa and Nathan Wegner. 

The U16 boys dropped a heart breaker 0-1 against SC Waukehsa in injury time to go down 0-1 in a solid competitive match. 

The U15 boys cut the lead in half with a goal by Andriy Ovad, but the result ended 1-2 in favor of FC Green Bay. 

The third group game for the U14 boys against Strike FC was cancelled due to unplayable field conditions in heavy afternoon rain in Appleton. Regardless, the U14 boys topped their group and secured their place in the semifinals.

The U13 boys finished with a record of 1-1-1, capping off the weekend with a 3-1 win over ACE. Goals scored by Carter Tirro, Griffin French, and Dylan Getschow.

The U14 girls tied Elmbrook United 2-2, but needed a win to advance and fell shy by one goal after a solid competitive match up. Mary Stroebel notched both goals for NSU.

The U13 girls had their third group game postponed due to heavy rains and poor field conditions in Appleton. The U13s hold first in their group and must win or draw against Madison 56ers on Saturday, June 1 to advance to the semifinals. 

WYSA has announced sites in the Milwaukee area for all games to be played on turf fields to ensure playable field surfaces in order to finish the State Cup tournament this week. 

Semifinals 

14U Boys vs TBD kick off 4:00pm on Sunday, June 2 at FC Wisconsin Soccer Complex. 

18U Boys vs Madison 56ers kick off 8:00am on Saturday, June 1 at Uihlein Soccer Park Pat Jones Field.

13U Girls vs Madison 56ers kick off 12:00pm on Saturday, June 1 at FC Wisconsin Soccer Complex for their final group game.

Notably, North Shore United’s PWSB Soccer Park will showcase the State Cup Championships for the U13 girls and U14 boys divisions. The U13 Boys State Championship will kick off 1:00pm  and the U14 Girls State Championship will kick off at 3:00pm on Sunday June 2 on the PWSB Turf field. The U13 girls Championship will kick off 7:00pm on Tuesday, June 4 on PWSB Turf and the U14 boys Championship will kick off 7:00pm on Thursday, June 6 on PWSB Turf.
