Dominating competition from beginning to end, the North Shore United U17 girls won the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association state championship with a 4-1 triumph over the Appleton Goal Getters.

The team won the title two years ago at the U15 level, then lost to Appleton in 2010. But this time, the North Shore United team had no equal.

NSU won its group in the state tournament with victories over Elm Grove Premier (9-0), Milwaukee Sport Club (13-0) and Mequon United (17-0). In the semifinal, the team beat FC Green Bay 4-0.

Appleton was the only team able to dent the NSU net in the tournament, but NSU was already in control of the match. Josee Stiever scored the first goal on a Hannah Groth assist. Maddie Tetzke made it 2-0 on an assist by Natasha Minor.

In the second half, the third goal came after great combination play, Angie Mann feeding Annie West for the finish. West returned the favor as Mann completed the scoring.

North Shore United advances to the 2012 Region II championships, June 23-27 in Saginaw, MI. The winner moves on to the national championships against victors from three other regions.
