NSU U13 Girls Capture State Title

NSU's U13 Girls won the Wisconsin State Championship on Sunday, edging SC Waukesha 1-0 in Appleton to advance to the Region II Championships. The U13 girls are the youngest team to win a state chamionship for NSU.

 

Kennedy Krenek scored the goal for North Shore United in the first half, converting a cross from Hailey Block. Emma Kate Knudson posted the clean sheet in goal.

 

NSU outscored opponents 16-1 in the five-game tournament, after eliminating Madison 56ers 3-0 in Saturday's semifinal. The Region II Championships are in Beaver Creek, OH June 21-23.

Three other NSU teams fell in Saturday's semifinals. The U13 boys and U18 boys both lost in penalty kick shootouts, the U18 boys after tying the match at the close of extra time. The U16 boys, trying to repeat as champions, fell 1-0 to the Croatians. The team still can qualify for the US Youth Soccer National League by winning its last two Midwest Regional League games.
