NSU U16 Girls Advance to Regional Finals

North Shore United 02 Blue (WI) and Cleveland FC 02 (OH-N) will square off in the 16U Girls final on Wednesday, June 27 in Westfield, Indiana. North Shore defeated Lou Fusz United Blue 02 (MO) 2-0 on Tuesday. Maddison Baker netted her fifth goal of the tournament in the 57th minute to extend North Shore’s lead to two. They held on for the 2-0 victory. 

The girls are just one game away from advancing to the National Championship in Frisco, Texas.  If the team advances, it will be the first time in club history that North Shore has been represented at Nationals. 

The #RoadtoTexas competition began on Friday with the first game against Midwest United FC 02 Royal (MI) which NSU won 3-1 with goals from Mae Sinclair, Elizabeth Rater and Madeline Paulson. 

The second game of the group stage  was played on Saturday vs CDA Premier 02 (OH-S).  NSU won with a score of 4-2.  Zoey Memmel and Mae Sinclair each contributed with one goal and Maddison Baker with two. 

The third and final game of the group stage was on Sunday vs United 1996 FC 02 Internationals (KY).  The girls dominated the game with a 5-0 shutout.  Goals from Elizabeth Rater, Abbigail Lenk, Mae Sinclair and two from Maddison Baker secured the girls a spot in the semifinals. 

Fresh from a day of rest, the girls took on Lou Fusz United Blue 02 (MO) today in the semifinals.  Despite a rain delay, NSU earned a victory of 2-0 with goals from Maddison Baker and a kick from Mae Sinclair.
