After receiving the title of Midwest Regional Champs in Indiana at the end of June, the U16 Girls have earned the opportunity to advance to the third and final stage of their quest for the National Championship. They will join the 40 National League qualifiers and the champions from the Eastern Regional Championships, Southern Regional Championships and Far West Regional Championships for the National Championships to be held July 23-29 in Frisco, Texas.

The girls, coached by Sinisa Angelovski, held off a slim lead in the Regional final against Cleveland FC 02 (OH-N) to win the 16U Girls crown. Abbigail Lenk scored in just the 16th minute to give North Shore the early lead. North Shore took that lead to halftime. Cleveland was unable to score the equalizer and North Shore held on to win 1-0.

The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series is the country's most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, providing approximately 185,000 players on more than 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play.

The National Championships cap a yearlong series of competitions, as the girls earned their way from the top team in the state to the regional championship tournaments.

The US Youth Soccer National Championships will consist of US Youth Soccer Regional Champions in the 13U through 19U Boys and Girls age groups as well as the US Youth Soccer National League qualifiers in the 14U through 18U Boys and Girls age groups to complete the field of 96 teams.

This is the first NSU club team to reach the US Youth Soccer Championship Series, and only the second in Wisconsin history.
