In continued partnership with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, North Shore United is pleased to offer our SCIP program to all club members.
What is the SCIP program?
North Shore United’s SCIP program is an off-season camp designed to improve players’ neuromuscular control, body mechanics and functional alignment targeting improvements in performance and reductions in the risk of injury for young athletes.
What does it involve?
The program consists of a month long camp designed by pediatric orthopedic and sports medicine specialist Mick Collins, PT, DPT in collaboration with the coaching staff of North Shore United to improve the strength, endurance, coordination, and body mechanics of its members in order to effectively target limitations in strength, flexibility and neuromuscular control and ultimately reduce the risk of injury and improve performance. Players will undergo functional testing to determine areas for improvement and will participate in an exercise program designed to address said areas.
Where and when is this program held?
SCIP camp will be held at North Shore United’s training facility at PWSB Soccer Complex in Cedarburg. One hour sessions will run 2x/week for 4 weeks under the guided supervision of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin physical therapist and NSU Academy Director Mick Collins. Participants will be provided with an extensive online home exercise program to supplement workouts and will be provided with additional resources (nutrition, recovery, ACL injury prevention initiatives) aimed at educating young players on healthy participation in sport. The cost for the camp is $150 per player and targets players 10-18 years old.
The camp will be held in summer 2018 on the following dates from 5-6pm:
7/3, 7/5, 7/10, 7/12, 7/24, 7/26
